Our Story
Meet Our Family
Founder and Clinical Care Leader
Karla Sonnier, NP
Karla is a devoted mother of three, an experienced nurse practitioner, and the founder of Orange County Oasis. With more than 23 years of clinical experience, she has dedicated her career to caring for people during some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives.
Her professional background has shaped her belief that excellent care requires more than clinical knowledge. It also requires patience, careful listening, clear communication, compassion, and respect for every person's dignity.
The inspiration for Orange County Oasis came from a promise she made to her mother before her passing: to care for her aunt. Navigating her aunt's relocation and care needs gave her firsthand insight into the challenges families face when seeking a safe and supportive home for an aging loved one.
She founded Orange County Oasis to provide the kind of environment she wanted for her own family - one where seniors are treated with warmth, their individuality is honored, and their loved ones are supported throughout the process. Her vision is to combine professional experience with the personal attention and genuine connection of a family home.
Co-Founder and Safety Leader
Sidney Sonnier, Fire Captain
Sidney is a dedicated husband, father of three, fire captain, and co-founder of Orange County Oasis. During his 24 years of service, he has built his career around protecting others, responding calmly in difficult situations, and serving his community with integrity.
His extensive public-safety experience brings a valuable perspective to the home. He understands the importance of preparation, awareness, reliability, teamwork, and clear communication. Just as importantly, his years of service have strengthened his compassion for individuals and families facing moments of change or vulnerability.
At Orange County Oasis, he helps support a secure, well-maintained, and welcoming environment. His steady presence and commitment to service reflect the values at the heart of the home: safety, trust, responsibility, and respect.
Our Children
Our two sons and daughter are an important part of the story and spirit of Orange County Oasis. They have grown up seeing their parents serve others through healthcare, public safety, and everyday acts of kindness.
As a family, we believe older adults deserve companionship, respect, laughter, and meaningful connection across generations. Our children help inspire the joyful, welcoming character we want residents and their families to feel when they enter our home.
Together, our family represents the values on which Orange County Oasis was founded: love, service, responsibility, compassion, and community.
